How does the tax filing process work on Origin?

Start in the Origin app by navigating to the Tax section in the main menu.

Choose your filing option:

• Free Filing
• Expert-Assisted Filing with professionals from Column Tax. Click Get Started to begin.

Prepare your information:

In the Column Tax interface, you can upload last year’s return to pre-fill some details or manually enter your information.  Not sure what documents you’ll need? Use Origin’s handy Tax Document Checklist to make sure you have everything ready.  Pro Tip: Compare your checklist to last year’s return to avoid missing anything.

Review & file:

• Enter any additional information required by the IRS to verify your identity.
• Carefully review your return to ensure accuracy before submission.

Submit with confidence:

Once you’re ready, we’ll securely e-file your return with the IRS and your state (if needed). After submission, relax! You can track your return’s status directly in your Origin profile.
