There are a few potential reasons why the credit score shown in our app may be different from scores you've seen elsewhere:
- Different scoring models - We use the FICO 8 model which can vary somewhat from VantageScore or educational scores.
- Data from different bureaus - Your FICO scores can fluctuate a bit between Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion based on their collected data.
- Outdated scores - If other scores you've seen are older, they may not reflect recent credit report changes.
- Different score versions - Each FICO model version (8, 9, 10) varies slightly in its score range and factors weighted.
- Algorithms - Small tweaks and updates to algorithms over time can cause slight variations.
While the score ranges are similar across models, it's common to see slight variations in your exact score from different sources. The key is to monitor consistent scoring models over time to spot meaningful trends.
